Illustrative Mathematics

Illustrative Mathematics (IM) is a problem-based core curriculum designed to address content and practice standards to foster learning for all.  Students learn by doing math, solving  problems in mathematical and real-world-contexts, and constructing arguments using precise language.  Teachers can shift their instruction to facilitate student learning with high-leverage routines which guides learners to understand and make connections between concepts and procedures.

IM 6-8 Math is focused on supporting teachers in the use of research-based instructional routines to facilitate student learning.  This is the top-rated middle school curriculum across all programs reviewed by EdReports, an independent nonprofit that reviews K-12 instructional materials for focus, coherence, and rigor.  Currently, the curricula is geared for 6th – 8th grades with high school launching Fall 2019.  Elementary curricula will be released Fall 2021 with a pilot during the 2020-2021 school year.
