Computer Science Certification Pathway

Do you need to get certified to teach computer science?

Increasing access to K-12 computer science for South Dakota students means providing professional learning and support to K-12 teachers as they become certified to teach computer science.

The following Computer Science Certification pathway will provide teachers with professional learning and financial support as they achieve their certification.

Thanks to our partnership with Code.org, Technology and Innovation in Education is able to offer teachers who are teaching computer science the opportunity to receive a $1,000 award for participating in our Computer Science certification program and passing the Praxis 2 (5652) Computer Science exam.

Apply for the Certification Pathway

You must apply for and be accepted into the pathway to earn the award.

You are responsible for verifying if you can add the certification through passing the praxis exam. Here are the SD DOE requirements for Secondary Computer Science and Elementary Computer Science endorsement.
