“We teach who we are,” is Parker Palmer’s powerful message underlying a reflective retreat practice. Teachers and leaders desperately need opportunities to tend to their hearts and spirits. Endorsed by the Center for Courage and Renewal, Courage work focuses on the rejuvenation of teachers and leaders from the inside out. Several formats are available:
- Day-long Retreats: Facilitators come onsite to create retreat-like experiences including music, readings, video, and art. The day becomes one of reflection, motivation and inspiration.
- Weekend Retreats: A full Courage to Teach seasonal retreat series with leaders (BLT’s, PLC’s, etc.) in a weekend away format in the Black Hills. Educators would gather 4-5 times over the course of 18 months.
Timeframe: 1 day or multiple
SD FfT Alignment: Supports Components 2b, 3b, 3c, 4a
