This online one credit hour workshop is designed to provide an in-depth look at the common core state standards and provide learning to help educators begin making a transition to implementing the standards into curriculum. In addition, participants will examine what the shift to common core state standards will mean to lesson planning and assessment in their own classrooms. They will gain confidence in their ability to tackle fewer standards, but more deeply.

If educators are unable to attend Module 2 of the state supported PD this summer, this course is designed to offer a parallel learning experience in an online format. If a district is creating a District-Created Plan for Investing in Teachers, they may choose to include this online class as part of the plan. If the plan designates stipends for educators, this online course is the equivalent of two days of coursework. Participants are eligible to earn a two day stipend, ONLY IF districts have included this course as part of their district-created plan. If not, teachers will not be eligible to receive a stipend. Stipends are managed through SD DOE, not TIE. Please check with your administrator to determine if you are eligible for stipends.
